This is PENCIL drawing of a photograph that was found by the artist while out antiquing. He felt a strong desire to draw the photo and turn it into a 30 foot work of art- what an inspired idea!!! From a distance it looks like a photograph, but as you get near to the work, you realize it is a pencil drawing. This is a top 10 finalist - I won't be surprised if this work takes 1st place.
Who said that the art of drawing was dead. Unusual idea and as you say inspired. The generation of my grandfather although he was never in US army, only ever got as far as Passchendaele in his life, though born in Ireland.

ReplyDeleteSRQ - Chris LaPorte is from the Grand Rapids area and had art degrees from Aquinas, LaCoste Ecole de Beaux Arts and the New York Academy of Art. He has taught classes at GVSU, Aquinas, GRCC & Kendall. Calvalry is in the top 10 for ArtPrize and the winners will be announced tonight.
